You know that old song:
“Sign, sign, everywhere a sign, blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?”
Well folks, the campaign is in full swing, and if you saw my Facebook post this weekend, you already know — my signs are finally here and they’re popping up all over Chatham-Kent in Ward 1 like optimistic yellow dandelions.
With the election now just under five months away, the sign game is officially on. But here’s the thing about yard signs on private property — they have a way of taking over your life. One minute you’re proudly displaying your support, the next you’re doing the awkward “sign shuffle” every time you need to cut the grass. Then the wind decides to redecorate your lawn at 3 a.m., and those pesky metal frames, holding up the corplast signs, snap like dramatic politicians during question period.
That’s why I went with bag signs for this campaign.
They’re tougher, have a better frame, they hold up to the elements like absolute champs, and — bonus — after the election you can actually use them for something else (though full disclosure: I might come knocking in four years asking if I can borrow them back. Or at least beg you to store them in your garage like a campaign hoarder).
**Pro tip for my amazing supporters:**
Stick my sign in your garden or flower bed if you can. That way you don’t have to play lawn Tetris every Saturday. Just slide it a little closer to the road as we get nearer to election day so it can wave hello to more voters. Teamwork makes the dream work!
Public property signs don’t go up until late August, so we’ve got plenty of time for the great Sign Fatigue to set in. You know the feeling — when you can’t drive down a street without seeing 47 different coulours and peoples names you dont know or can pronounce.
But hey, at least mine are clean, with a simple message – **black on bright yellow** Easy to read, hard to miss, and they won’t give you a headache.
To all my incredible supporters who are already proudly displaying my sign: thank you. Seriously. I appreciate you more than you know. You’re the reason this campaign feels like a community, not just a candidacy.
If you’d like a sign (and if I still have some left – I might need to get more), just message me through my Facebook campaign page or shoot me an email. Happy to get one in your yard or business.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go fix a sign that the my son moved to cut the grass. I think i put it in the garden, my wife will love that!
Stay tuned. This ride is just getting started.
