Well, folks, Super Bowl LVII is in the books, and congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles on their victory!

While the hype leading up to the game was all about a potential Kansas City Chiefs dynasty and a thrilling matchup, what we got was… well, let’s just say it wasn’t quite the nail-biter we were all expecting.
The Eagles defense came to play, that’s for sure. They were relentless, putting constant pressure on Patrick Mahomes and sacking him multiple times. Mahomes, unfortunately, didn’t seem to have his usual magic, and the turnovers certainly didn’t help. The Chiefs, despite all the pre-game buzz, just couldn’t seem to find their rhythm.
Frankly, the game felt lopsided, and the expected high-scoring shootout never materialized. I, for one, called it a night about ten minutes into the third quarter. There just wasn’t enough to keep me engaged. Mahomes mounting a massive comeback seemed like a distant dream at that point. Plus I had to get up early to get this post written and off to work.
But the Super Bowl is more than just the game, right? There’s the halftime show! This year, Kendrick Lamar took the stage, and… well, it was certainly something. I’m a fan of all kinds of music, and I went in with open ears, hoping for something electrifying. Unfortunately, I came away feeling a little underwhelmed. Even having SZA (I had no idea who it was) join him for a couple songs and the appearance of Serena Williams (to fuel the feud fire with Drake) dancing on stage, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. The best part? Uncle Sam, Samuel L. Jackson’s commentary and the moment the show was over. Kendrick, maybe you should have sung “TV Off” first, to let us know what was coming! Was it the worst halftime show of all time? I’m not sure, but it’s definitely in the running.

And then there are the commercials! Being Canadian, I don’t always get to see the Super Bowl ads, but this year I managed to catch the US feed. For the most part, they were entertaining and memorable, actually making me try yo figure out what product was being advertised (and I correctly guessed most of them!). Of course, there were a few that seemed like a complete waste of money, but that’s always the case.
So, what did you think? Was the game a letdown? Did the halftime show live up to the hype? Were the commercials worth the price tag? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! I’d love to hear your take on Super Bowl LVII.
