Update#1 – My Facebook Vacation (aka The Great Account Debacle of 2025)

Written by:

Oh, the drama! The suspense! The sheer, unadulterated trauma of being locked out of Facebook! Yes, folks, yours truly has been banished to the digital wilderness, all thanks to a rogue Instagram account that apparently decided to shack up with my Facebook profile. It’s like a bad reality TV show, except instead of screaming matches and hair pulling, it’s just me, staring blankly at my computer screen, wondering where it all went wrong.

Let’s rewind a bit, shall we? So, Facebook, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that because some random Instagram account (which, I repeat, does not belong to me) violated some mysterious policy, my Facebook account (facebook.com/themichaelbond), for those keeping score at home) and all its associated goodies, like my MBLive page, must be punished. Guilty by association, I guess? I’m basically a social media criminal mastermind now, all because of an Instagram account I’ve never even met.

The only way to appeal this injustice, according to the Facebook overlords, is to log into the offending Instagram account. Brilliant! Except, as I may have mentioned once or twice, it’s not mine. It’s like asking me to defuse a bomb by using instructions written in Klingon. Totally helpful.

Now, I’m not entirely helpless. I did manage to find some dusty, forgotten email address for Facebook appeals and sent a message into the void. Will it be read? Will it be answered? Will a team of highly trained Facebook lawyers descend upon my case and declare me innocent? Probably not. But hey, a guy can dream, right?

In a desperate attempt to communicate with the Facebook police, I tried to create a new account. And guess what? Denied! Apparently, my suspended status transcends accounts. I’m like a social media ghost, haunting the halls of Facebook’s server rooms, unable to interact, unable to create, just…suspended.

The good news is, I only have 177 days left to appeal before my account gets Thanos-snapped out of existence. 177 days! That’s plenty of time to learn Klingon, right?

Honestly, I haven’t missed Facebook all that much. It’s been kind of nice, actually. Like a digital detox, but involuntary. However, I do feel bad for all my Messenger contacts who are probably wondering where I’ve vanished to. Sorry, folks! Blame the rogue Instagram account!

So, here I sit, playing the waiting game. Fingers crossed, hoping for a miracle, and trying not to lose my sanity. In the meantime, dear readers, I implore you: spread the word! Share this post, everywhere! Let everyone know about my Facebook purgatory! And when (or if) I return to the land of likes and shares, you’ll be the second to know (after my wife, of course). Stay tuned for more updates on this developing saga. Hopefully better news to come.
