Today, I am proud to officially announce my campaign for Municipal Council in Ward 1, Chatham-Kent.
This campaign is about bringing practical leadership, accountability, and a strong voice to council while focusing on the issues that matter most to residents, families, businesses, and taxpayers across our community.
Over the past several years, I’ve listened to many residents who feel frustrated with rising costs, aging infrastructure, community safety concerns, and the need for more transparent decision-making around the council horseshoe. I’m running because I believe Ward 1 deserves a fresh perspective, strong representation that listens, communicates openly, and focuses on finding balanced, common-sense solutions.
Chatham-Kent faces important challenges over the next term of council. From managing infrastructure and roads, to supporting economic growth, addressing addiction and homelessness, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly, the decisions made over the next four years will shape the future of our community.
My campaign will focus on several key priorities:
- Responsible and accountable spending
- Keeping property taxes manageable
- Investing in core infrastructure and roads
- Supporting local businesses and economic growth
- Improving community safety and quality of life
- Encouraging transparency and stronger communication from council
- Listening to residents before major decisions are made
I believe municipal government works best when residents feel heard and respected. This campaign will be built around open conversation, community engagement, and a commitment to representing the people of Ward 1.
Over the coming weeks, residents will begin seeing signs of my campaign throughout the ward as I continue building momentum heading into the election on October 26th. This will include social media post, campaign literature and signage.
I’m also excited to announce that the campaign website will soon be going live at michaelbond.net where residents will be able to learn more about my platform, campaign events, priorities, and ways to get involved.
For those who have already reached out asking how to support the campaign financially, donations will be able to be made either through the website or in person. Every contribution helps me continue reaching voters and building a strong grassroots campaign focused on the future of Chatham-Kent.
I invite everyone to follow the campaign on Facebook for updates, announcements, and upcoming events at facebook.com/mblive2026.
I’m looking forward to connecting with residents across Ward 1 in the months ahead and earning your support.

Mike Bond
